Novelties star at Stylecraft of Miami

"As relaxed and off-the-beaten-path as the life in Miami, are the spring handbags created and made there by Stylecraft of Miami. Most are designed with shoe coordination in mind but at the same time, they are smart novelties suitable for regular handbag department selling.

Clear vinyl is handled cleverly in large tote-types. Some are trimmed in straw braid, others have calf in new shoe colors. A smart vinyl is clear with colored under-water motifs laminated into the material. Pearlized calf is used in typical shoe bags but in unusual color combinations that stress two-tone ombres and contrast. Some in this group have colored leather applique. Styles run from boxes through vagabonds.

Straw fabrics are used for big basket bags of unusual shapes. Baskets are also done with lids of shoe fabric for coordination. Bags are all moderately priced with many in the $15 retail range. A special promotional item is the tote group to sell at $2.95. These are crochet mesh with wood or bead handles and pastel shell trim."

Bags for Spring 1956 were presented on January 3, 1956 by agreement as a member of the National Authority for the Ladies Handbag Industry. 1956NationalAuthorityMembers
