High fashion Black Suede Pouch bag with remarkable sculptural tortoise Lucite frame. Frames of this style and material were heavily advertised in the late 40s by Celenese and were featured on bags by Bienen-Davis, Coblentz, Koret and Bag by Josef. My money is on Koret because of the metal frame trim! The curvaceous Suede handle increases from 1/2 inches wide at the ends to 2 3/4 at the center and fastens to the frame with loops through metal embellished curled Lucite fittings. The interior is fully lined in spotless black taffeta. The bag is unmarked, but beautifully made. A real sculptural tour de force! Excellent condition inside and out. Measures 10 x 6 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches within 15 in. handle.
