Lin-Bren Products Corp. tracks back to 1950 so far and you can visit their page in Bag Lady University by clicking their name in the descriptor list below this description. They specialized in compacts and carryalls, especially fitted bags like this smart black brocade example. The gold latch folds forward to open and snap over a tiny metal prong that pierces the envelope flap, held by the folding latch. Spotless black taffeta lines the interior which is marked with the Lin-Bren gold logo. A shallow comb pocket is built into the front interior while on the back interior are fitted lipstick and compact sleeves. The matching 3 1/4" compact is in pristine condition and carries both the Lin-Bren incised mark and the 1947 patent number 2,425,540 for the complex process used to mount the fabric to the top and bottom of the compact body. The very limited use of metal in the ensemble points to an early post WWII date, possibly between 1946, when the patent was filed and 1950. The ensemble is in excellent unused condition, but there is no puff or sifter for he compact. The bag measures 6 1/4 x 2 x 7" to the top of the short swagger handle.

This item was part of the archives of the Bag Lady Emporium, originally in operation from 1996 through 2022 (Inventory ID G00038).
