Elegant and understated, this petite evening bag c. 1900 is a relic of a bygone era. The front silk faille panel is embellished with a floral sprig rendered in minute stitching. The marking on the interior is obscured by time, but indications of quality include minute detailing of the gold metal frame, beautiful and complex 14-inch handle and meticulous finish of the rose beige silk interior. Similar to a bag illustrated on page 244 of "Ladies Vintage Accessories" by Bruton. Excellent condition inside and out. Measures a petite 4 1/2 x 3/4 x 4 1/2 inches.
